Professional looking pictures at home
Just like Kayla from “Wahm” mentioned on her blog “a good picture can make or break a sale”… It is worth it to take some time and get a good picture of your product. After all you put a lot of effort and most

likely time into the creation of your product.

Light is very important when taking your picture. However direct flash is not recommended. Professionals use a light tent or a light box to shoot small items, providing a lot of light but not direct light to the product. Ideally we would hire them to photo shoot our products but for most of us that is not a feasible option.

If you are planning to use photoshop or any other program. Here are some tips.

The less you have to photoshop the better, try to start from a good picture.

You can place your object on a piece of blank paper outside.
(try to take your pictures when you have good light)

Stage your products, find objects around your house that match or compliment your product. Don’t be afraid of being creative. If you are selling jewelry for example try to hang your jewelry in unusual places.

Remember here on mycityartisans you can upload three different views of the same product. Show different perspectives, different uses, the same product on different colors.

We would love to hear your story. Remember you can always submitt your story or pictures to info@mycityartisans.ca
